Bandar Tun Razak Swimming Complex – (Swimming)

Bandar Tun Razak Swimming Complex also apparently known as Kompleks Renang Kuala Lumpur is a public swimming pool located in KL itself specifically in Bandar Tun Razak. It’s an old swimming facilities but adequately maintained and its reasonably priced. It has an Olympic size swimming pool, a children pools and a diving pool for well diving. Took me about 20 minutes from office to arrive to the place through the KL-Seremban highway before driving into Cheras itself which as we know is slightly jammed here and there.

So after office, I went for the Night Session which starts at 6pm and ends at 9pm which is way better than the Bukit Jalil 5pm to 7pm I went last week. Now when I was there, the place looks like it’s in a middle of a renovation or major upgrades but the pool is operating like normal. Now the changing rooms and toilets are well….let’s say needs some major fixing but serves the purpose for changing clothes. Now I didn’t shower there since I was in a rush but there are plenty of showers around albeit need some fixing too.

As for the pool if you are there by 6pm you can still set a descent swimming session before it starts getting crowded in the 6.30 mark onwards. It’s not as crowded as Bukit Jalil one where they restrict swimming to one lane each, here the pool is open with no lanes so it’s easy to maneuver away from incoming traffic which there was plenty of.  The lanes there is used for swimming lessons conducted there. I completed my standard 1000m breaststroke in 29 minutes for a descent workout. There’s a 25m swimming lane on the other side of the pool for those short burst swimming I guess.

Here are the available sessions:

Monday to Friday

  • Session 1 Afternoon : 2pm – 5pm
  • Session 2 Night : 6pm – 9pm

Weekends & Public Holiday

  • Session 1 Morning : 9am – 12.30pm
  • Session 2 Afternoon : 2pm – 5pm
  • Session 3 Night : 6pm – 9pm

And the price as follows:

Monday to Friday

  • Adult – RM 2
  • Child  RM 1

Weekends & Public Holiday

  • Adult – RM 3
  • Child  RM 1

My thoughts: In summary I can see myself going for this swimming pool after office hours since it’s along the way home though getting back from the pool to home is a long ride. The pool is well maintained and only sections of it appears to be dirty but still acceptable and it’s not crowded or restricted to lanes so you don’t feel tight swimming. The plus side it is only RM2 per entry for weekdays and for the price it’s well worth. So yeah I’m going to spend a lot time swimming here.
